Absolutely lovely pub, a real gem! Perfect spot for a dog walk stop-off or a cosy date night. The food is exceptional- the Sunday roast was honestly the best I’ve ever had! The staff are so friendly and really go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Can’t wait to go back!!

After seeing loads of hype about the food here me and a friend decided to try it. We based our food selection off the online menu but upon arrival was told the online page was out of date, nevertheless they sorted it out for us ( bbq board for 2 ) but the wait was incredibly long which I can understand but over an hour felt silly. When the food came there was things missing off it ( would’ve been nice just to have been told what we was getting ) and then when the bill came I realised it was an extra £6 yet things were missing from the food. Slightly couldn’t understand why as the place is so small. And the food was mediocre at best, I’ll be back to try a specific steak but the bbq board was average and was overcharged. I brought this to their attention and they said it was out of date ( not really customer problem ) but they gave me half back, again they never told me. Bit more communication wouldn’t go a miss. Aside that, the place is lovely and a very cute cat that roams around.

Such a great little getaway for our family of three. The hosts John and Della were great from start to finish, kind, attentive. The rooms are perfect and the bed was giant and so comfortable. The hosts also went the extra miles to accommodate our little girl and provided us with a great toddler cot.

My friend and I decided to try this wonderful pub out for breakfast last weekend. What an absolute hidden gem we have found. Nothing was too much bother. The landlord John was the epitome of exactly what you need a landlord to be. Knowledgeable, friendly. An extremely competent chef. I opted for the scrambled eggs, Simon the full English. We left both acknowledging that we will return. Well done to John and the Dog and Castle. Villagers, support this establishment. You’ll not find a better place locally. Can’t wait to return this weeekend.

My family and I visited the Dog & Castle this evening, and were not dissapointed! In fact, the polar opposite. Anyone familiar with the award winning restaurant Dog in a Doublet, will find themselves in similar surroundings, those who aren't familiar, it doesn't matter. The restaurant is homely, welcoming and quirky, all in good measure... and the food? Outstanding. John and his team delivered a great experience from the off, from the numerous and creative plates of vegan food, to the service, everything was top notch. Being vegan it is often difficult and/or tiresome finding decent (or different) meals out, however John presented us with a fabulous range of dishes, many utilising locally foraged foods also! Highly recommended, and we'll see you again soon.

If you are in need of a twinkle lit room to enjoy a quiet drink then the Dog and Castle is place to be. When it comes the food, my oh my. Imagine walking into your family home and the most amazing roast is cooking. Maybe you need a heartwarming Mac ‘n’ Cheese or the best burger you’ve ever tasted? Except rather than your mum cooking it’s a man called John. Instead of judgement and disappointment usually endured by family expectations, okay well at least mine. You’re welcomed by a smile and a drink of choice. That’s the atmosphere created by the staff at the Dog and Castle. It’s clear John has a passion for cooking and the ingredients he uses are top notch. The wagu beef, is something that needs no description. I’m working my way through the entire menu and with each mouth watering bite I’m left wondering; how does he do it? Thank you to John and a special shout out to the waitress Ellie for making sure our glasses were never empty.
